Gen Z may scoff at Xianity and/or other traditional societal values, but as a whole, they are vastly more repressive. The Left has become more tyrannical than the Right ever thought of in the way of censorship. Lefty authoritarianism is stifling and wholeheartedly depressing. Likewise, the Right has become stuffy enough to make Richard Nixon look like Nikki Sixx. It’s heartbreaking to see an entire generation so scared to live life and experience anything outside of the internet. Their window to the outside world is relegated to banging on their smart phone keyboards in endless frustration. Social skills, be damned.
Young adults are now collectively overwrought when it comes to sex, no matter what fad form of Leftism or Rightism they adhere to. They have no concept of Rock and Roll as a whole, and they share a distorted definition of “freedom.” Their only vice, if you can classify it as such, is politics. They are the youngest population in history to politicize everything and enjoy nothing. They’ve created a societal neurosis where everyone walks on eggshells in fear of saying, or even thinking, the wrong thing.
It doesn’t have to be like this!
Young people of previous generations had a healthier approach to rebellion and thus created their own countercultures. Gen Z could learn a lot from the history they wish to erase. Making YouTube and/or TikTok political reaction videos is not counterculture. “Canceling,” doxxing, and/or closing off those who don’t think exactly like you is not rebellion. Denouncing gender norms is not a new phenomenon, and I dare say Boomers and Generation X did it with infinitely more style.

I did everything in my power to enjoy life and have fun as a young adult, and I continue to seek out the party even in my 50’s, although opportunities have naturally become sparser due to added responsibilities. To focus on the antithesis of happiness is foreign to me. Social media has caused antisocial behavioral disorders (see malignant narcissism) and Zoomers came of age in the thick of it all. I just wish, for their sake, they could see the forest for the trees and step out from under their collective dark cloud once in a while.
"I break away from all conventions that do not lead to my earthly success and happiness".
